Oh what a glorious Monday! What did you do this weekend?
I spent the weekend trying to figure out how to get a certain moldy smell out of my carpet.
Apparently when my kids spill water, they cover it up with a couch pillow.
And apparently, when my kids spill water on the carpet, they spill a 5 gallon bucket of it.
So I had three choices:
A) Panic, bring out the box cutter, and cut out square of wet, moldy carpet.
B) Cover it up with a bigger couch pillow.
C) Figure out how to dry & deodorize with the least effort possible.
You guessed it, I chose B. But then the smell became more of a stench and I realized I needed to act before it became a funk.
I definitely didn’t want my house to get to ‘funk’ stage.
Now, I’m so excited to show you what TOTALLY fixed it, and it took me about 5 minutes. With 2 ingredients, you really can’t go wrong.
Start with Baking Soda & Peppermint Essential Oil.
Add 10 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil to 1 cup of Baking Soda. Mix well with a fork.
Dry your wet carpet as best you can with towels/fans.
Sprinkle your homemade carpet deodorizer all over that area there.
Spread around with your hand until it’s well mixed in.
Leave there for about a week or so and then vacuum it right up! Your house will smell heavenly instantly!
At least until your kids spill another bucket of water.
From now on be suspicious of couch pillows on the ground, ’cause you never know.
