I know what you’re thinking. “Gross!”
But you’ll wanna stick around and hear why because this bit of information could have a HUGE impact on you & your family’s health.
In 2012, the supplement industry made a whopping $61 BILLION dollars! Did you hear that?! As many Americans notice a decrease in health, they turn to vitamin supplementation in the hope of using natural remedies to return to vitality.
I too have spent my fair share on supplements. When I suffered from morning sickness with my son, I bought B6 & B12 in an effort ease my symptoms. (Didn’t work by the way.) Later on, when I began to have back pain and muscle spasms, I was told that MSM & Chondrotin, & Glucosamine would help. For a while I bought into supplement protein shakes and spent roughly $200 a month on a product called Reliv. I have bought digestive enzymes, neurotransmitter building amino-acids, iodine, fish oil, turmeric & ginger powder, trace minerals, and a whole slew of probiotics in my quest to restore my health.
None of them worked. Not once have I felt any benefit from a supplement.
I was so lucky to be introduced to fermented cod liver oil by a friend who strongly believed in this traditional food …
What exactly is Fermented Cod Liver Oil & why is it SO beneficial?
Fermented Cod liver oil is an ancient food. It is an has been used for thousands of years as a sacred food to boost one’s health. As far back as 200 B.C, the Romans would ferment fish liver oil and credit their strength & vitality to it. According to anthropologist William Stefansson’s book, Scandinavian fishermen believed in the nearly magical powers of cod or halibut liver oil, and some would drink a wineglassful every morning. In the book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, Dr. Weston A. Price noted that every single one of the 14 isolated traditional cultures he visited ingested FCLO regularly as a vital real food supplement to their diets.
You’ve probably heard of “Cod Liver Oil” but wonder why it needs to be fermented. Most cod liver (& fish oil for that matter) on the market today has been extracted through heat. Heat destroys enzymes & nutrients, therefore almost all of the fish oils/liver oils on the market today are rancid.
Fermented fish liver oils are extracted through a cold process, therefore aiding in the digestion & assimilation of it’s nutrients. It only takes a day to extract oil if heated, but usually takes about 6 months if fermented. At the turn of the century, when the industrialization of food became popular, manufacturers decided to skip the 6-month fermentation step to reduce costs.
Your grandma may have taken cod liver oil as a child, but it was probably during this time when cod liver was extracted with heat and therefore not as beneficial as your great-grandmother’s fermented version.
Fermented Cod liver oil is ONE of the MOST nutrient-dense foods on the planet! FCLO is rich in eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docasahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA & DHA are essential fatty acids found in Omega 3 fat. EPA & DHA are vital nutrients that maintain the health of the brain & eyes, regulate cell activity & healthy cardiovascular function, and play and extremely important role during fetal brain development! EPA & DHA have also been known to help with Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Depression, Autism, ADHA, Aspergers & Multiple Sclerosis. FCLO also contains extremely high amounts of Vitamins A & D. One teaspoon of FCLO contains 9500 IU of Vitamin A and 1950 IU of Vitamin D! FCLO has also been known to be a fertility boosting superfood and inflammation buster!
FCLO, along with a healthy REAL FOOD diet is THE ONLY SUPPLEMENT you need!
When I read articles that today’s soil is depleted and the vitamins in our food are much lower than those 100 years ago I simply don’t believe it. Yes, most of the food from your regular grocery store contains cheaply grown, pesticide filled food. But I don’t believe my soil in my backyard or the organic farm down the street cannot supply the necessary nutrients for my body. I believe earth will sustain us for thousands of years and real food is attainable and simple.
You don’t need to take Vitamin C, just eat an orange. You don’t need to take digestive enzymes, simply incorporate raw or fermented foods into your diet and you are set! You don’t need to take probiotics, instead learn how to make homemade yogurt or kefir, or if you’re feeling brave, lacto-ferment some veggies. Suffer from inflammation? Eat some fresh ginger. You don’t need a protein drink, just eat an egg, or some cheese or quit worrying about protein all together;)
And to boost your real food diet? Just take a real, live superfood like Fermented Cod Liver Oil and forget about all the other “fake” supplements out there!

My personal experience with Fermented Cod Liver Oil aka The Good Stuff.
Right away I noticed an improvement in my occasional depression & anxiety. I also have been feeling really focused and not so “fuzzy minded” like before. It’s also given our family a HUGE boost in immunity. I keep reading on Facebook about everybody being sick and we’ve been fine ALL. WINTER. LONG. I’ve heard that FCLO will “boost” a healthy diet and that is just how I felt! I have improved my health a lot from incorporating a real food diet, but when I started taking Fermented Cod Liver Oil, it took my health to the next level! I love the stuff so much I am sure not to miss a day!
As far as the taste goes, we buy the cinnamon flavor gel version and I kid you not it tastes like one of those gummy cinnamon bears. My kids take a 1/2 tsp. every night before bed and yes they like to drink some water afterwards but that’s it.
What do you think about Fermented Cod Liver Oil? Think I’ve finally gone to the crazy side?
