Let me just tell you this was the worst experience of my life! I had to go in for this test to determine which of the degenerative disks were causing the pain in my back. SOunds easy enough, right? NO! THIS was a FReaking NightMARE! It was horrible. The doctor had to insert nine different needles all the way to through the muscles and the nerve and into the disk and if that’s not bad enough they can only do a little topical numbing because they have to know if they hit the wrong nerve. Oh, yeah on top of that, (oops says the nurse) they only had 18 gauge instead of standard 22 gauge needles and all of you nursing buddies know what a freaking difference that is! Just getting the needles into the disk took about 45 min. I was sweating and crying and screaming and swearing like a mother! Then they had to inject fluid into the disk basically “recreating my back pain” THe first disk was fine. I actually just felt pressure and was relieved to have something normal in my back.. The next two weren’t that sweet and it defintely recreated my pain but only a billion times worse. After it was all over and I started to see straight again the doctor leaned down and said in a broken Chinese…”You have horrible back. What you do? Were you cheerleader?” I was like, “Hell no! I was freakin colorguard! Do you even know what that is mr. chinese man? I held a flag up and only tripped a couple times” Then he bent down and said…”No more kids…no more kids for you!” That was when I completely lost it…….A call from the doctor a couple days later and I find out that I am a canidate for this surgery where they cut and repair the disk, and there is a good possiblilty of more kids.. Surgery date is set for Nov.5th. I’m really excited to be rid of my demon back pain I’ve had ever since I popped out Ethan. Only bad part?……For the surgery I need to be awake and again, not much numbing either. I need to learn to find my happy place….AND QUICK!
