“Mom, I’m hungry, what can I eat?”
If your kids are anything like my kids, you get asked this um…let’s see…about a 100 times a day? Yep, that sounds right.
Geez, why do kids have to eat every single day? Sometimes I just want to say, ENOUGH!, throw myself on my bed and let everybody eat anything they freaking want. Anything. Crackers and mayonnaise? Sure. A whole block of cheese? You bet. Last year’s Halloween candy? Go for it…
When my crazy, exhausted side is done and I care about the fuel that feeds my kids, I have noticed that the more high quality foods I feed my kids, the better behaved they are. And bonus, they stay full longer. I’ve listed some common go-to snacks that are bad news. Let’s just say in full disclosure here that I used to feed my kids these things on a daily basis. And by “feed my kids these things on a daily basis”, I mean “put my kids down for a nap and gorge on their snacks in the pantry”. C’mom, you love your kid’s snacks too. Don’t deny it. But no worries, these healthy kid’s snack substitutions actually work for adults too.
